A novel sensing technology needed to get from research prototype to a consumer device shipping at volume. We built the automated test equipment that made it manufacturable.
Our client was bringing a new gesture-sensing technology to market inside a compact consumer device. Hardware this new has no off-the-shelf test infrastructure: every fixture, motion profile, and pass/fail criterion had to be designed from scratch, and all of it had to run at production speed.
We handled the full scope of the test-equipment program. The end product was a complete automated testing system, delivered with a software API that line integrators could drive over a socket connection. Fixture design and fabrication, motion control, instrumentation, and the control software were developed together, under one roof.
Everything was engineered around timing, accuracy, and repeatability, from the initial setup through the actual motion testing. That discipline is what separates a test station that works in a demo from one that holds a production line to spec.
The technology shipped in a consumer product at high volume, backed by factory-line calibration and QA that held up through the production ramp.
Client engagements are confidential, so this work is described in general terms.
